| How Much Do I Need? The amount of glass for each fireplace
varies depending on size and fill depth. Full size fireplaces within
the home have a 36" long in the front x 24" wide in the rear and 16"
deep (from front to back) x 4" fill level and take about 64 pounds of
glass. We find that average size fireplaces (30"x 16 deep x 4") take
64 pounds. Any excess glass ordered can be returned for full refund
and credit anytime within 30 days. For a more precise calculation see
'specifications'.
For fireplaces:
E.G. 30" x 16" x 4" = 1920, 1920 divided by 30 =64 lbs
The 30 is derived by the average from the front and the back.
(36"(front) + 24"(back)= 60", 60/2 = 30"
There are 30 cubic inches of glass per pound
For fire pits with a raised peak:
E.G. 30" round 15" high
15" x 15" x 3.14 = 706.5, 706.5 x 15" tall = 10597.5 divided by
90 = 117.75 lbs
Radius x radius x ð (3.14) =______ x height =_______ divided by
90 = pounds needed
1/2 of this should be filled with either lava rock or pea
gravel to minimize on the cost.
For use in a
fire pit with out a raised peak use the formula:
E.G. 30" round
30" x 30" x 2" =
1800 divided by 30 = 60 x .8 = 48 pounds needed.
Diameter x
diameter x height divided by 30 = ____ x .8 pounds needed.
There are 30 cubic inches of glass per pound
